Composed spontaneously into an extra examination blue book, Bolay's chapbook project is an experiment in embodied poetics. Six scribes copied Jordan's original poem into blank examination books by hand, layering a diversity of penmanship over the organic foundation of Bolay's original composition. Each of the 50 copies produced is numbered, and the first 26 copies in the series are signed by the author.

In the present age of digital media, the art of publishing and book-binding is quickly being forgotten. The Blasted Tree appreciates the difference between reading a story online and holding a copy in your hands, and we feel the experience of owning a high-quality physical copy should not be lost. Though we make most of our media available online free of charge, physical distribution is how we raise funds to promote our authors and this site. The Blasted Tree is involved at every level of publication, from editing to typesetting, production, and distribution. What better way to support Canadian authors and artists than by purchasing a printed copy of their work?
