Behold the Dead

by Ben Berman Ghan

When I close the door on these painful cities

I am still

entangled in the carelessness

that is to call myself monstrousness

without fear of what it means

when we still live in a world

where the undead put their hands in rivers

demanding feasts

They eat and eat and eat—

refusing to know a body is not a feast
